Purge and pressurization is a method of protection used in hazardous areas to ensure that the interior of an electrical enclosure is free of flammable gas.
A vast range of electrical equipment is regularly protected by this technique, including:
Expo Pressurized Enclosures are IECEx & ATEX Certified for Zone 1 & 2, in stainless steel IP66 rated.
Internationally recognized flexible method of protection for wide range of electrical equipment in hazardous area.
Suitable for explosive dust Zone 21 & 22.
Expo holds IECEx & ATEX Certificates to IEC/EN 60079-0 & 60079-2, Zone 1 (Ex px) and Zpne 2 (Ex pz) for the completed Expo Purge & Pressurized Enclosures.
Certifications also included for hazardous dust application for Zone 21 & 22, Ex pD.
The construction and power dissipation of the internal components are critical to ensure effective purging, compliance with Temperature Rating and Safe Operation. Therefore all internal components and details of the PE must be reviewed by Expo to determine compliance with the Certificate "Schedule of Limitations: (SoL) required for the certificate to apply. Thereafter the final installation is to be verified by Expo.
Expo Motor Pressurization Systems are IECEx & ATEX Certified for Zone 1 (Ex p) to protect Electrical Machines.
Entirely pneumatic operation using the same compressed air supply for Purging, Pressurization and Control Logic.
Closed Loop Automatic Pressurization System (CLAPS) for fully automatic control of the pressure in the machine during start-up and normal operation.
Pre-Start Purge:
Designed to enable purging of Ex e and ex n electrical motors prior to starting. This ensure the machine is gas free prior to starting when the risks of ignition may be potential.
Expo RP-Max-Z range of room pressurizing systems are designed for Zone 2 (Ex pz) pressurization of rooms in accordance with NFPA 496 2008 and ATEX IEC/EN 60079-13 Draft.
Each system is Expo's Control Logic which provides for pressure monitoring and air inlet fan control.
The RP-Max-Z can adequate pressurize and ventilate rooms with 1 door (1800cfm) or 2 doors (3000 cfm).
For additional ventilation capacities consult expo.
