DIESEL ELECTRIC HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR TUGS

This was a new 120-ton bollard pull multi-purpose offshore vessel built in Singapore for a supportive role in the oil field of West Africa region.

During daily events when the vessel need to manoeuvre around the rig, conventional main engine will be online and consume more fuel. With the new diesel electric propulsion system, she uses electric mode during low transit to achieve fuel savings. The motor is also used as a booster to the main engine.

We supplied a bespoke electrical system which include 2 units of water-cooled Active Front End Drive System and electric motors for the propulsion system.
